Finally, we are happy to announce that the ENOUGH project is officially underway. We will be breaking ground in May and are starting to deliver the resources necessary to give these kids and their community a new start on life. Over the past year the word has spread in Africa about the ENOUGH project and in that time the 150 ex child soldiers that where waiting on us has now grown to over 500. We will be working in a small village in the Konor region of Sierra Leone. Our goal is to provide this community with all the tools, skills and resources necessary to turn a toxic, abandoned, diamond mine into a thriving rice field, giving these kids and their community a sustainable source of food and money.

Working with Liberian native and globally recognized humanitarian Kimmie Weeks, and his foundation “Youth Action International”, we will over see this project from start to finish, including visiting the community ourselves to witness the rebuild first hand.

MiaDonna and The Greener Diamond where created to educate consumers about the decisions they make, to return and assist damaged communities and to offer exquisite environmentally friendly jewelry. Over the past 3 years we have done our very best to offer breath taking eco friendly, conflict free jewelry and Go Green in as many ways as we can think of. Now, because of your support, a small community in Africa will finally see that people do care and that are love for beautiful diamonds and gold doesn’t have to destroy anyone’s land or livelihood. Its because of you, our supporters, that we can finally make good on our word and start to be the change we want to see in the world.

We will be updating our blog regularly and have a few more very exciting things coming up to help fund the ENOUGH project, including an all expenses paid trip for two to hang out with John Littlefield on the set of Extreme makeover Home Edition, help him design a room and be there to “move that bus”.

This was the 3rd year that MiaDonna participated in the “Valentines Day for the CCA” event hosted by local DJ’s Terry, Nelson and Stacey from 105.1 The Buzz. This year we donated a pair of 1.25 carat each Diamond Hybrid® Round Brilliant stud earrings. The earrings have a reatail value of $999.00 and ended up selling for $1,405.00. This is the third year in a row that the wonderful people donating to this cause have paid more than retail for our donation.

Overall the event raised over $356,000.00 which is a huge success for the CCA. If you missed it be sure to tune in next year. We promise it will be one of the most heart braking, inspirational events you have ever listened to. We would like to give a special thank you to Terry, Nelson and Stacey who stayed on air for over 28 hours auctioning off items and talking to the kids and families that are dealing with the effects of childhood cancer in there own lives.  100% of the proceeds from the event went to the CCA.

This February 11th and 12th our friends at 105.1 the Buzz will be doing there annual Valentines Day For the Children’s Cancer Association Radiothon. Morning DJ’s Nelson, Terry and Stacy will be on air for over 24 hours in order to raise awareness and money for kids with cancer. The event will host both the kids themselves and there families stories as well as an online auction with proceeds being donated to the CCA.

This is our 3rd year participating in this event and all we can say is that it is a heart felt, sometimes very hard to handle, event that will leave you feeling grateful and passionate about life. We had a great time meeting everyone at Costco last Friday. I must say that Costco shoppers definitely want quality at affordable prices, which is right up our alley so to speak.  Thank you to everyone that came out to see us, we really enjoyed speaking to those of you that had done your research and were ready to see the MiaDonna Simulated Diamond HYbrid™ and settings in person. The event was a great success for Doernbechers, Costco and MiaDonna.

We have worked with Doernbecher’s many times in the past and are very excited to be able to participate again. On Friday, May 15th 2009 we will have a booth set up at the Aloha, Oregon Costco for our local supporters to come and see the MiaDonna Simulated Diamond Hybrid in person. Members of the MiaDonna team joined in the effort to help raise funds for Dornbechers Childrens Hospital. The radioathone was hosted by 99.5 The Wolf and covered by Fox 12. With wolf DJ’s Mike and Amy running the show and Fox 12 Weather anchor Andy Carson televising the event all we had to do was donate some time and answer the phones. There were many heart felt stories shared by those donating who had been affected in one way or another from the loss of a child. Please take the time to help someone. The event raised over $425,000.00 for Dornbecher’s.

The Third Annual Nicolle Shops Portland party is all over. We had an amazing time and it was great seeing everyone at the event. A special thanks to Nicolle for her generosity and support.
