Sierra Leone youth begin harvesting crops with support from Greener Diamond.

We’re pleased to announce that our 100 acre farm in Sierra leone has began to produce for the Kono youth. We recently visited the youth and the farm with Greener Diamond endorser Johnny littlefield and couldn’t be happier about the progress being made.

Sierra Leone youth begin harvesting crops.

Close to 500 youth benefiting from YAI’s agriculture project in Kono District, Sierra Leone have begun harvesting rice and other crops planted thanks to Youth Action International with support from The Greener Diamond.

Through Youth Action International’s sustainable agriculture program, the young people (a majority of who are former child soldiers) received training, bought seeds, tools and worked with YAI agriculture experts to plant and harvest the farm.

EMHE Halloween at OSD and Johnny’s in The Greener Diamond shirt

Last nights episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was in Salem, Oregon for the Halloween episode. Ty, Johnny, Paige and Michael showed up with celebrity guest Rob Zombie to help the kids attending the Oregon School for the Deaf. The School runs a haunted house that is vital in creating enough revenue to help run the school through out the year. The design team not only showed up and completely re built the schools haunted house named “The Nightmare Factory” but also created new dorm rooms for the attending kids to stay in.

Greener Diamond endorser Johnny Littlefield was in the greener diamond shirt during the episode and even hung out for a while with the crowed and handed out some greener diamond t-shirts to some lucky fans.

We recently had the opportunity to visit The Greener Diamond’s head endorser Johnny Littlefield on the set of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Salem, Oregon. While there we spent some time with Johnny and many of his fans about our recent trip to Africa and the steps we are taking to create sustainability for the 500 ex child soldiers currently working on our 100 acre farm.

We also had the opportunity to have a lot of fun, pass out some Greener Diamond shirts and Johnny even signed a few for some lucky fans.

MiaDonna Diamond in Africa with The Greener Diamond

MiaDonna CEO, Anna-Mieke Anderson, and Extreme Makeover Home Edition designer, Johnny Littlefied, are still in Africa, but we wanted to share these photos of them on their trip so far. Over the past few days they have held workshops, done press conferences, met with former child soldiers who are currently working on our 100 acre farm, met the Mayor of Monrovia, traveled all over with Youth Action International director Kimmie Weeks, attended a football game as VIP guests and made the front page of the Liberia news paper just to name a few.

We are extremely thankful to all the supporters of both MiaDonna & Co. and The Greener Diamond. None of this would be possible without your support. Together we are, at this very moment, creating positive change for both our environment and the people that have given a little more than their fair share for us to have diamonds and gold.

A personal update from MiaDonna&Co. CEO and The Greener Diamond founder Anna-Mieke Anderson.

MiaDonna and The Greener Diamond are headed to Africa and it is because of you that we are able to make this happen. Over the next two weeks will meet with many Liberia officials as well as host a variety of work shops and visit our 100 acre farm in Sierra Leone. This farm is currently employing over 500 ex child soldiers and street kids creating a new source of food and income for this small community, as swell as a sustainable livelihood free of mining.

Last Sunday on Extreme Makeover Home Edition Ty, Johnny, Ed and Paige visit the Suggs family in South Carolina. Celebrity guest and 4 time Nascar champion Jeff Gordon steps in to help with the build. But, before that all starts the “Big Show” and some of his friends from the WWE show up for the demolition.
