Q&A with Ivanka Trump from our friends at Your Engagement 101 Magazine

From her red carpet appearances at the MET, to her sharp-witted criticisms of contestants on Celebrity Apprentice, Ivanka Trump has become a celebrity we all like to know better. Late last year she got engaged to boyfriend Jared Kushner who proposed to her with a gorgeous 5-carat cushion cut engagement ring from her own signature jewelry line.

What was the first piece of diamond jewelry you adored?

A diamond solitaire pendant from my father.

Why did you want your own jewelry line?

I have always admired fine jewelry. One of my favorite hobbies as a little girl was digging through my mother’s jewelry box and playing dress up. Now I am able to combine my passion for jewelry with my love for business.

Your brand’s signature colors are black and white. Are those your favorite colors?

Black, white and coral, of course! Black and white are classic, and coral, my favorite color, adds that punch of color to our branding. Each piece is inlayed with coral enamel in a subtle spot as our iconic mark.

Besides your line, who is your favorite jewelry designer?

I am inspired by many designers from earlier decades. The designs of Jean Schlumberger of Tiffany and Co. have made the most impact on my career of fine jewelry.

Who are some of your favorite fashion designers to wear to the office? On the red carpet?

Dolce & Gabbana, Brian Reyes and Rachel Roy. On the red carpet, J.Mendel and Monique Lhullier.

What jewelry pieces should every woman own?
